  • Andrew Block, MD

    Specialty: OB/GYN

    Locations: Medical Park, Laurel, and Rockville

    Dr. Block has been practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology for over 25 years in Laurel, Rockville and Silver Spring, Maryland.  In 1987 he received his medical degree from Temple University and in 1991 he completed his OB/GYN residency at the University of Maryland.  Dr. Block attended the University of Pennsylvania and completed his undergraduate degree in 1980. He is board-certified and a fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  He is past chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Holy Cross Hospital.  Dr. Block enjoys teaching residents and is an Associate Clinical Professor at George Washington University.  His interests include Normal and High-Risk Pregnancy, Contraceptive Management, Infertility, and Menopausal issues. He has developed expertise in minimally invasive surgery including Operative Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy.  He has been recognized in Washingtonian Magazine Top Doctors for many years.  He enjoys spending time with his wife and four children.

  • Asha Barrett, M.D.

    Specialty: OB/GYN

    Locations: Medical Park and Laurel

    Dr. Barrett joined Capital Women's Care in 2021. She graduated with high honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 2012, and received her Medical Degree from Texas A&M University in 2017 where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Barrett completed her residency at the University of Texas at Houston in 2021 where she gained experience with high risk obstetrics, and both laparoscopic and robotic minimally invasive gynecology surgery.

    A native Texan, she recently relocated to the DMV area with her husband. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, cooking, and lounging with her two cats.


  • Roy M. Brooks, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

    Specialty: OB/GYN

    Locations: Medical Park, Laurel, and Rockville

    Dr. Brooks started practicing in the DC metro area in 1989 with Contemporary OBGYN, Associates, LLC., and most recently with Capital Women’s Care. He attended Tulane University School of Medicine, and just recently returned from New Orleans where he celebrated his 40th medical school reunion.

    He completed residency training at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. After residency, Dr. Brooks served two years in Montgomery, Alabama where he proudly served his country in the National Health Service Corps.

  • Julie G. Glass, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

    Specialty: GYN

    Locations: Medical Park, Laurel, and Rockville

    Dr. Glass joined Contemporary OB/GYN Associates in 1989. She graduated in 1980 from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts with her Bachelor of Science in Biology, majoring in Biological Basis of Behavior. She received her Doctorate of Medicine in 1985 from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Glass completed her internship and residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in Baltimore, Maryland in 1989.

    Dr. Glass serves on the Credentials Committee at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland.

    She received her Board Certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1991. Dr. Glass is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the Montgomery County Medical Society as well as a member of the Medical Chirurgical Society of Maryland.

    Dr. Glass maintains hospital privileges at Holy Cross Hospital.


  • Ronald D. Jacobs, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

    Locations: Medical Park and Rockville

    Born and raised in the Washington, DC. area, Dr. Ronald D. Jacobs graduated from the University of Maryland with honors in 1978, and from The University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1982. He then went on to complete his obstetrics residency at The George Washington University School of Medicine. His consistent care, compassion, and dedication were recognized, as he achieved numerous awards for best teaching resident for the medical students.

    In 1986, he joined the practice of OB/Gyn Associates. He continues to see a wide variety of patients, and his special interests include High-Risk Obstetrics and Infertility.

    Since 1999, Dr. Jacobs has consistently been recognized and awarded as one of Washingtonians “Top Docs”.

    He is active in the medical community, as he chaired The Holy Cross Hospital Gyn Surgery Peer Review from 2005-2007 and served on the Board of Holy Cross Hospital.

    His love of medicine and teaching remains strong – He is currently on the teaching faculty of the Department of OB/GYN of the George Washington University School of Medicine, preceptor of 3rd year OB/GYN students. He continues to be recognized by his colleagues and students, winning the voluntary teaching faculty.

    Dr. Jacobs’ dedication to his community and academic institutions remains his top priorities. He serves on the Board of Directors Of the Alumni Association of the University Of Maryland School of Medicine and remains active in the GW School of Medicine Alumni Association.

    The love of the practice of medicine is embedded in Dr. Jacobs’ DNA – two of his daughters, Erica & Lauren, are currently medical students, and the third, Allison, focuses on psychology.

  • Lauren Finley Ng, M.D.

    Specialty: OB/GYN

    Locations: Medical Park and Rockville

    Dr. Ng joined Contemporary OB/GYN Associates in 2015. She graduated from Davidson College cum laude in 2007. She received her medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2011. Dr. Ng completed her residency at George Washington University in 2015, where she served as administrative chief resident. Honors include induction into Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism medical honor societies.

    Dr. Ng grew up in Brazil and speaks Portuguese and Spanish.

  • Anne Seifert, C.N.M.

    Specialty: OB/GYN

    Locations: Medical Park, Laurel, and Rockville

    Anne Seifert grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and got her Bachelor of Science in Plant Biology from the University of California, Davis where she discovered the field of midwifery. She moved to Maryland where she went to the University of Maryland for her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, and finally obtained her Master’s of Science in Midwifery from Georgetown University in Washington, DC in 2004. She has practiced in many clinical settings from public health departments, to private offices, hospital labor rooms, operating rooms, and birthing centers. She is dedicated to empowering women to be active participants in their care, whether that’s in finding the right family planning methods for them or partnering to take good care of their bodies. She lives in Laurel with her husband, two children, and two cats. She enjoys running, camping, and cooking.


  • Meredith Tussing, W.H.N.P., C.N.M.

    Meredith Tussing is originally from Minnesota where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at St. Catherine’s University in 2002. After working as an RN in OB/GYN for 7 years, she obtained her master’s of science in Nursing at California State University, Fullerton with a concentration in Midwifery and Women’s Health in 2010. She also obtained a master's in public health at George Washington University with a concentration in Global Health in 2019. She has been inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, Phi Beta Delta, and Golden Key International honor societies. She has been practicing Women’s Health for a total of 22 years, with special interest in adolescent health, urogynecology, medical weight loss, perimenopause and menopause care. She currently lives in Virgina with her husband and two greyhounds and enjoys traveling and CrossFitting.


  • Gayle Friedman, M.D.

    Locations: Laurel and Rockville

    Gayle Friedman, M.D. is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who has practiced medicine in Rockville, Maryland for over 25 years.

    She is a fellow of ACOG. She is a long-time Washingtonian, having grown up in Virginia.

    Dr. Friedman graduated from the University of Virginia with her undergraduate degree in electrical engineering and premed in 1987, and she graduated from the Medical College of Virginia with her medical degree in 1991.

    She completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1992 and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1995.

    She finished her training in New York at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She then returned to the D.C. area, where she has been in private practice ever since. Dr. Friedman has over 25 years of experience in practicing medicine and hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Friedman specializes in obstetrics and gynecology, and she is affiliated with Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.

    Dr. Friedman has always been interested in new and advanced therapies for women’s medical care and has been following the movement toward bio-identical hormone therapy and anti-aging medicine for more than ten years. She has received additional training in the complete endocrine evaluation of women and is excited about finally having the outlet to explore traditional and adjunctive treatments for her patients.


  • Eric Ashkin, M. D.

    Specialty: OB/GYN

    Locations: Medical Park and Rockville

    Dr. Ashkin earned his Bachelor’s Degree at The University of Pennsylvania in 1993. He went on to a Master of Science in Physiology at The Chicago Medical School followed by a Doctor of Medicine degree at The George Washington University in 1998. Dr. Ashkin stayed at GW for a residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology and currently is an Assistant Clinical Professor at The George Washington University. He spends several days a month attending to the medical students and Residents in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Holy Cross Hospital. Dr. Ashkin has been in practice in the greater DMV area since 2002. He is a founding member of the medical staff at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital where he currently holds privileges. He also holds admitting privileges at Holy Cross Hospital where he has served on many committees including a time as Chairman of the department of Ob/Gyn and ultimately President of the Medical Staff. Dr. Ashkin currently serves as Chairman of The Credentials Committee at Holy Cross Hospital. Dr. Ashkin specializes in Obstetrics & Gynecology with a focus on minimally invasive surgery and is trained in robotic-assisted surgery on the da Vinci Surgical System. He is currently the Medical Director at the Maryland Surgery Center in Rockville. Dr. Ashkin has 2 children and enjoys skiing, music, water activities, and traveling.

  • Julie Kronen, WHNP

    Julie Kronen grew up in Southern Maryland and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park. After college and while raising her children, she worked with a surrogacy agency as a gestational carrier helping to create families. It was during this time that she discovered her interests in women’s health and nursing. She received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Montgomery College in Takoma Park, Maryland and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from American Public University. After working as a Labor & Delivery RN for 8 years, she received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She lives in Silver Spring with her husband and three children and enjoys reading, exercise and needle crafting
